If Harold Camping thought the world was ending today, Why did he need donations?

He wouldn't ask for the money if the world was going to end - there would be no use; we would all be dead (duh). I honestly don't know why he asked for donations. Maybe he really doesn't think the world is going to end. I don't know.... In my opinion I think he's lying when he says the world is gonna end today.

And his employees will be paid after today as well.
